Major success for Irish secondary school students at 53rd International Chemistry Olympiad

Niamh Campbell awarded 2021 Rooney Prize for Irish Literature
The Rooney Prize for Irish Literature is valued at €10,000 through the generosity of Dr Peter Rooney, who continues the Rooney family’s association with Irish literature and support for the longest-established literary prize in Ireland.

Trinity and DPD team up in new air quality monitoring project
The project uses smart sensors on buildings and delivery vans to track Dublin’s air quality in real-time. In Trinity, a sensor has been installed in New Square, to capture Particulate Matter (PM) 2.5 levels.

Dr Michelle Browne secures L’Oréal-UNESCO UK and Ireland For Women in Science 2021 Rising Talent fellowship
Dr Browne’s research is focused on the production of green (clean) hydrogen in water electrolysers for the generation of electricity.

Trinity welcomes French President Emmanuel Macron
President Macron visited the Book of Kells and met students to discuss topics that included post-COVID Europe, climate change and digital equality for all citizens. President Macron’s discussions with students took place in Trinity’s beautiful Public Theatre, which was designed by George III’s architect Sir William Chambers and completed in 1786.

Trinity hosts first in-person graduation ceremonies since COVID-19 closure
Trinity is the first university in Ireland to proceed with an in-person graduation event. In keeping with COVID-19 protocols the events are held outdoors and attendance is limited to 200.
